Our next travel

Sometime in September/October, we are headed back to Texas. It would have been nice to go along the coast near where my sister, Toni, lives to camp, but we heard the campgrounds are filled near I-10 with Katrina residents. We both like Boerne so will probably head out that way. I will have to get with Toni and see if she knows any campgrounds near her, Aransas Pass, that is available.

Larry enquired about some retirement communties in Dallas, Houston and one in Colorado so we have three notebooks they sent to us showing the resident. I told him "There are nothing but old people living there!" The place does look nice and the people look too happy!! Something has to be wrong with the picture! But....being a fair individual that I am, I will go along and see what they are like just for the sake of argument. Maybe they will let us dine in their "Outstanding" restaurant. Their monthly service package includes "one restaurant experience every day----breakfast, lunch or dinner at the venue of your choice", which one is a full service restaurant or the deli-style. They do have a pool, excercise room, golf course (oops! we don't play golf), clubhouse, computer center, arts studio, games and billiards, other things that make it enticing. It has to have a big cost I'm sure. The drawback?? Being away from our sons and grandkids. We are 3-4 hours from two of them and the other one lives here in Kentucky but is stationed at Ft. Campbell which is 3 hours away but his wife lives 1/2 hour away from us. I told our two grandaughters someday we may live in Texas and they said "you can't live that far! We will never get to see you!" I told them they would have to come during vacation and see us. Then they can push me around in my wheelchair!!

Anyways, our trip isn't fully planned but we are headed out that way and I intend on taking photos and including them with this blog. I would like to see Ft. Worth since I have never been there but there are alot of areas we haven't seen yet. Our dogs have traveled more than our sons when they were younger! But then we don't hear "are we there yet?" from the dogs, only heavy panting which I can put up with.

RV Rally in Tennessee

Larry and I usually go on RV Rallies by ourselves with the two dogs but this year we decided to take the grandaughters, Alyssa and Alexa (Allie or Lexi to some). The rally this year was in Sevierville, Tennessee.
We arrived a day early to see what the place was like and it was full of campers and it wasn't even the start of the rally. Some others from our group were there as well. Naturally, the girls wanted to swim right off.
The rally began July 16th with everyone arriving and getting their sites. We had to move to another site since ours was already taken for the rally which we didn't mind. Later there was a welcome supper which is always delicious.
Monday, the 17th there was coffee and donuts in the morning sponsored by the workhorse which are custom chassis for the class A's motorhomes. In the evening was a hayride at Cades Cove. We also went souvenier shopping and stopped for lunch downtown Gatlinburg.
Tuesday the 18th we went to Dollywood and spent most of the day there which was alot of fun.

It was very hot so we were glad there were plenty of places that had water misting to cool us off and we drank plenty of variety beverages to quench our thirst.

On Wednesday the 19th, the girls tried their hand at making pancakes on the grill. For some reason I can't get Allie's photo to come on. I will learn this blogging stuff yet, it may take me awhile but I will learn!

On thursday, the 20th we had a potluck breakfast and then later a potluck supper. So much food! If a person went away hungry then it was their fault as there was something for everyone! During the breakfast they revealed where the rally will be next year and it will be in Branson, Missouri. At the supper they had their raffle, I got two cookbooks with aprons, foam rubber compartments to hold things in your camper, a beer cozy and several bags with deodorizers for the toilet....we sure do need those! We did more shopping in between the breakfast and the supper and also went swimming.

Friday they had an ice cream social in the evening but we also went to Clingmans dome, walked to the top like we did with the boys when they were younger. The girls even posed with the bear in the glass container like the boys did. We did our last minute shopping. Then Saturday we left to come back to Kentucky. It was a nice trip, the only rain we had was going to Tennessee and coming back home, just the right kind of vacation. I asked Allie what she liked best about the whole trip and she said "swimming", I think they both enjoyed that. They met two other girls from our group (www.irv2.com) so they always enjoyed swimming with them and then eating meals with them when we all got together.

Our next trip will be this fall and we are headed out to Texas, again. We aren't sure where exactly we are will be going but I am sure it will be more new areas to explore.
